  • S.O.S. was created in response to the unique stressors Black women face and the barriers many experience in traditional mental health spaces. The program centers culture, shared experiences, and sisterhood.

  • Not at all. No art skills are needed. This group is about support and creative expression, not talent or perfection.

  • Our therapeutic art groups are not art classes—you experience different ways to use art as a tool for decreased stress, reflection and self-expression, with the support and guidance of a Registered Art Therapist (ATR).

  • No. S.O.S. is for Black women seeking self-care, reflection, connection, or creative wellness—whether you’re struggling or simply need space to breathe.

  • No. This group can complement individual therapy or stand alone as a supportive wellness experience. It can also provide information to those considering individual therapy.

  • Only if you choose to. Sharing is always optional. Art allows you to express yourself without having to explain everything in words.

  • Each group includes relaxing music, guided art-making, gentle reflection in a calm, welcoming environment.

  • Groups are intentionally small to maximize the therapeutic experience—up to 12 participants during workshops or 10 during the 8-Week program—to help build trust and meaningful connection.

  • This program is typically offered by hospitals, health centers, organizations or churches as a supportive service to their members, employees or clients. Any payment details and registration are handled by the host. Ask about getting S.O.S. in your community.
